Holland’s Purveyor’s of Party, the Vengaboys, have sparked a new lockdown fitness trend on social media, with thousands having already filmed themselves taking part, attracting millions of viewers.
The “Up & Down Challenge” involves a strength exercise in which two people climb on top of each other and carry out synchronised movements that make them go ‘up and down’ – all in-sync with the Vengaboys’ classic track Up & Down.

Tens of thousands of TikTokkers have taken on the challenge and uploaded their own version to either TikTok or Instagram, with more than 5000 new video’s coming in every day currently.
Olly Murs also hopped on the #vengachallenge and posted his video over the Easter weekend by to his combined 15 million followers, captioned: “Easters been a bit UP….. AND DOWN”
This isn’t the first time that one of the Vengaboys’ hits has been adopted across social media.
Two years ago their banger Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!! returned to UK charts after a man from Gloucester inspired a spontaneous street party in his neighbourhood by blasting the song out of his car speakers. The street party video was viewed tens of millions of times.
And then most recently, We’re Going To Ibiza! – hit number one in Austria last year, after the Vengaboys’ party anthem became the protest song of choice against the Austrian government scandal that had played out in Ibiza.
