In partnership with Pride in London, the UK’s biggest LGBT+ festival, MTV will celebrate Pride week by MTV Classic with MTV Pride; the UK’s very first pop up channel inspired by, but not limited to, the LGBT+ community.
MTV Pride will be a pop up channel on Sky 356 and will air Friday 24th to Sunday 26th June, hosted by non-other than The Vengaboys!
When asked about the pop-up channel, The Vengaboys commented, “Whoever you are, wherever you are, we want you to hop on the Vengabus and get ready to shake what your mamma gave you in celebration of diversity and love!”
The channel will host live shows from the likes of Little Mix and Years & Years, alongside shows like Lip-Sync For Your Life and Turn Up The Sass! Party Warm Up.
During the weekend, MTV Pride will broadcast coming-out stories from a number of famous faces including Troye Sivan, Courtney Act from RuPaul’s Drag Race and MTV’s own Geordie Shore stars Marnie and Nathan.
The takeover will encourage viewers to celebrate the spirit of Pride with a #nofilter campaign – living life with no filter, standing proud and celebrating authenticity throughout the world.
MTV has spoken to a number of famous faces including GRAMMY winner Meghan Trainor and Geordie Shore’s Marnie and Nathan about their first #NoFilter experiences, which will feature throughout the weekend.
The pop-up channel will also be supported by a takeover on MTV’s international Snapchat Discover, with the whole edition dedicated to celebrating Pride, and the LGBT+ community.
Iain Walters, Advertising & Creative Lead at Pride in London, said, “Thanks to this amazing partnership with MTV we are excited to be part of something never tried before in the UK. Our #nofilter campaign is all about living life proud, free and confident, and an an entire channel inspired by the LGBT+ community is a wonderful moment of acceptance and celebration. Pride in London is set to be our biggest ever event, with people from across the UK and the rest of the world coming to the city. Having MTV by our side helps us spread our message far and wide.”
The Pride pop-up channel and Snapchat Discover will also feature content from the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, which works with LGBT+ young people around the world, to help raise awareness of stigma and discrimination, as well as encourage sexual health empowerment, and HIV prevention.
Tune in to MTV Pride from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 June 2016, only on MTV
